I-75 tanker fire in Detroit

Following a Sunday fuel-tanker explosion on I-75 NB at the I-375 interchange, reports the Michigan Department of Transportation, work began Tuesday morning on the I-75 NB Fisher Freeway ramp to I-75 Chrysler Freeway, which remained closed. Repairs are expected to be ongoing through Friday, weather permitting, MDOT says.

About 300 feet by 15 feet of damaged concrete will be replaced on the ramp and temporary concrete barriers will be placed along the shoulders of the ramp until repairs can be made to the barrier walls at a later date. This will allow the ramp to be reopened to traffic sometime late Friday.

At the time of the crash Sunday, I-75 NB was closed between the I-96/M-10/Fisher connector to Mack Avenue in Detroit. All entrance ramps to I-375 northbound between Jefferson Ave and Mack Ave were likewise closed.

In Texas, widespread flooding Monday and into Tuesday morning hampered travel through Central and Southeast portions of the state. Interstates around Houston, including I-45 and I-610, as well as major U.S. and state highways saw intermittent closures due to high water. Some exit and on-ramps and frontage lanes remained affected, among other interruptions, as of 2:30 p.m. CDT Tuesday, May 26. Truckers moving through the area can check the Houston Transtar website for most up-to-date information.
