Joplin 44 Petro showroom opens

A new multi-million dollar, 15,000 square-ft. showroom has opened at the Joplin 44 Petro truck stop in Joplin, Mo., the travel center announced.

The addition nearly doubles the size of the truck stop and features a retro-styled, bright green Peterbilt 379 dubbed LimeLight and a teal and purple Kenworth W900 tractor-trailer combo with a mural depicting Route 66.

The truck stop has also added a Taco Bell and a Blimpie sandwich shop in the Fuel Center for restaurant offerings.

Joplin 44 Petro is a part of the Iowa 80 Group, based in Walcott, Iowa.

After the truck was retired about three years ago, owner Joel Anker had it rebuilt into a show truck. The hard work paid off, with a fifth-place finish in the Limited Mileage -- Bobtail with Miles class at MATS in March.
