The KeepTruckin smartphone app logbook and electronic-logging-device-capable service announced a series of upgrades in functionality available to its small-fleet users.

The KeepTruckin ELD, one of only a few relatively well-known e-log providers self-certified on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s ELD device registry, like other BYOD (bring your own device) systems utilizes a plug-in piece of hardware to connect to the truck’s engine control module (ECM), which communicates with the KeepTruckin logbook app on a smartphone or tablet.

New functionality, detailed in a recent release, includes:

  • A new dashboard showing fleet overall performance with percentile scores for hours compliance, safety and utilization.
  • New capabilities in idle-time tracking and power take-off use.
Driver scorecards based in part on utilization, fuel mileage and driving events like hard acceleration, braking and cornering, as wel as speeding, are also part of new functions in the fleet dashboard.Driver scorecards based in part on utilization, fuel mileage and driving events like hard acceleration, braking and cornering, as wel as speeding, are also part of new functions in the fleet dashboard.
  • A diagnostic function, too, provides a record with basic interpretation of all fault codes coming from the ECM.
  • Setting up geofences around particular locations, useful for shipper customers or maintenance shop personnel, can alert users to a truck’s impending arrival.
