The full construction project for NDOT’s section is scheduled to last until late December.

The Nevada Department of Transportation will open a new 2.5-mile section of the new Interstate 11 in Henderson on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 5 a.m. The new interstate is currently planned to run from Nogales, Ariz., to Reno, Nev., along the current routes of I-19, I-10, U.S. 93 and U.S. 95.

NDOT says the new section of interstate is between the U.S. 95 interchange and the Railroad Pass Casino interchange. Access to and from the casino will be impacted, however, according to NDOT. Southbound travelers will have to use the U.S. 93/95 interchange to Searchlight for access to the casino. Traffic leaving the casino will have to make a U-turn at Wagonwheel Drive to head back toward Boulder City.

The project is part of the $83 million first phase of I-11, and is scheduled to finish in late December. A full diamond interchange will be built at Railroad Pass with a loop ramp as part of the project.
