Jimmy Hoffa serves owner-operators – on rye bread
Jimmy Hoffa, Teamsters leader from 1957-71, was a frequent target of Overdrive lampoons, as seen in this October 1962 cartoon of Hoffa creating an owner-operator sandwich. Hoffa disappeared in 1975 and was declared legally dead in 1983.
Hey, it beats the game room
Mass 10 Truck Stop in Auburn, Mass., a frequent Overdrive advertiser, ran this cartoon in summer 1967, offering truckers a free vacation “for four hours or four days.” The establishment began advertising itself as The Dump after a trucker made that comparison. The now-closed truck stop’s offerings included free use of its lake house, beds, water skis
Affected trucks include model year 2008-2018 Freightliner Cascadia and Western Star 4700, 4900, 5700 and 6900 trucks. DTNA says after hard brake applications, the brake light pressure switch may not activate the brake lights with the light application of the brake pedal.
