The Ohio Department of Transportation has closed both the Interstate 90 eastbound and westbound rest areas in Mentor for renovation for six months.

Renovations will include new wiring and plumbing, energy-efficient windows and doors, heating and air conditioning, new roof covering, and new concrete floors, tile and bathroom fixtures. The facility also will be updated to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

The rest areas are scheduled to reopen in spring 2011.

The state has been updating rest areas. Other rest areas are closed along I-70, I-75 and I-77.
