(NHSP photo)Early reports from last week’s International Roadcheck commercial vehicle inspection blitz are in from two New England states. While limited, these results could be indicative of what truckers from across the country during the annual 72-hour inspection spree.
State police from Rhode Island and New Hampshire conducted more than 900 inspections resulting in 1,900 violations – more than 300 of which were out-of-service violations.
New Hampshire State Police say they conducted 528 inspections during the 72-hour blitz and discovered 1,205 violations with 215 of those warranting an OOS order. NHSP added that its inspectors also issued 61 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance decals to trucks that passed a Level I inspection with no violations.
Rhode Island State Police say they conducted 416 total inspections and found 696 vehicle violations and 136 driver violations. Rhode Island inspectors took 89 trucks and 28 driver out-of-service for violations including underinflated tires, inoperable turn signals or brake lights, air brakes out of adjustment, hours of service violations, logbook violations and more.
