Pavement work on I-70 in Kansas City begins

Pavement work will close lanes of I-70 in the Kansas City area beginning Friday, March 2.

Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, workers will remove damaged concrete and replace it with asphalt in the center lane of westbound I-70 over Manchester Trafficway at mile marker 7. The two left lanes will be closed until work is completed this weekend, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The left lane of eastbound and westbound I-70 from downtown Kansas City to I-435 will be closed from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, March 5, for pavement repairs, MDOT said.

Monday and Tuesday night work will be in the left lane of eastbound I-70. Wednesday night’s closure will begin at 8 p.m. on westbound I-70 and Thursday night’s work will begin at 8:30 p.m. on westbound I-70. Friday night’s closure will begin at 9 p.m. on westbound I-70.

This work precedes asphalt removal and repaving of I-70 in both directions that will restrict traffic at nights through June 29, MDOT said.
