Pirelli took its next step into the U.S. commercial truck tire market Thursday with the debut of the company’s TP Commercial Solutions lineup at the Mid America Trucking Show in Louisville.

TP Commercial Solutions President Clif Armstrong says the tires underwent “a rigorous testing process” that included on-road testing with fleets in various applications “to develop tires for the specific needs of the U.S. market.”

Among the products making their debut Thursday was the Pentathlon D premium long haul drive tire. The SmartWay verified tire, Armstrong says, offers high mileage along with fuel savings and low emission benefits. The tire incorporates a dual layer tread compound for long lasting performance; a special undertread compound to equal low rolling resistance and fuel consumption; an optimized pattern geometry and 3SB belt evolution for durable, even wear; a directional tread pattern for excellent grip on wet and dry; and Pirelli’s patented Spiral Advanced Technology for Truck (SATT) technology and Hexa Bead Wire for retreadability.

Pentathlon will be the company’s name for its premium long haul products and Pentathlon D is the first product to launch.

Also unveiled Thursday was the G:85 Series On/Off Road tire for mixed applications.  The G:85 Series comes in both an All Position rib product as well as an aggressive Drive companion.

The FH:01 Motor Coach is designed for the the bus fleet market and is optimized for durability and a smooth comfortable ride while promoting steering precision and grip on both dry and wet surfaces.

Formula Driver II All Position rib tire is a product of the Formula Brand, the company’s Tier II brand. It’s initial launch will be limited in size before expanding to a full product line.
