DriveCamLytx announced it has signed an agreement with Canal Insurance Company to offer the Lytx DriveCam Program to insureds in exchange for preferred insurance rates. DriveCam is one of a few dual-camera-based driver-coaching systems reported on last year in the Video Witnesses feature series in Overdrive.

Lytx’s DC Enterprise and DC Protect programs, the latter intended for fleets of fewer than 350 power units, will be offered to Canal insureds as CanalRISK360 value-added services through the insurer’s risk management services unit. CanalRISK360, launched earlier this year, is the umbrella term for resources and alliances that Canal uses to proactively engage insureds to help improve safety and reduce operational costs through operations, safety and training evaluation and improvement.

DriveCam joins the Vigillo and iiX companies in Canal’s partnered risk-management services roster.

“We believe that bringing the Lytx DriveCam Program to our insureds’ fleets is another unique and effective solution Canal offers that can assist insureds in improving operations,” said Gary Flaherty, Canal Assistant Vice President, Risk Management Services. “The DriveCam program will be one of the cornerstones of the resources in CanalRISK360 and is essential in our goal to improve driver safety.”

“The program is available to all of our insureds, including small fleets,” Flaherty added. “In theory, the impact of a program such as this will manifest in improved driver performance, decreases in losses and loss costs that ultimately impact premiums.”
