Rand McNally at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas last week launched its latest dashcam offering for truck drivers.

The new DashCam 500 offers a companion app, available for Apple and Android devices, that allows users to view live videos from the camera, manage a gallery of still photos and video, change the camera settings and download and share photos and videos with email, social media and text messages.

Other features of the new dashcam include a “Flashback” button that starts saving video and also provides up to several minutes of preceding video; “G” sensor accident protection that automatically senses and saves video when there’s an impact to the truck; active “VideoKeeper” that ensures saved videos are never overwritten; “MapShots,” which uses the built-in GPS to show where a video was captured; and more.

The camera mounts on the windshield with a clip-in suction cup and records in 1080p. It is available online for $179.99.
