A June 2012 study by GreenRoad says smartphones are steadily becoming “standard equipment” for drivers, as 67 percent of the fleet manager respondents said that either all or most of their drivers have smartphones. Job-specific apps are also gaining more traction, the report says, as 35 percent of respondents said drivers are using apps for trucking-related work. Seventeen percent of fleet execs who responded said they are planning on deploying a fleet-specific smartphone app within a year. Here’s how the survey said drivers are using smartphones for work:
