Owner-operator Ater and a fellow hauler on a run from Midland, Texas, up to the Williston, N.D., oil fields, ended up spending three nights there, leaving with a new appreciation for the place and its generous manager.

Rough weather clouds the spot rate forecast
With extreme weather events across the Rockies, Plains and into the Midwest, it’s notable that the number of loads moved last week increased 3.5 percent compared to the previous week. But the number of trucks looking for loads gained 3.4 percent, and van and reefer rates slipped, flatbed holding steady.

An intense blizzard that consisted of hurricane-force wind gusts and heavy snow has forced the closure of some major highways in Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota. Portions of I-25, I-80, I-90, I-94 and I-29 are closed throughout the region.
