CDL skills testing delays can be reduced with third-party testers, group says
A study released by the Commercial Vehicle Training Association shows states with the most significant delays in skill testing were those with state-run testing centers only. States with third-party testing centers that conduct skills tests in lieu of or in conjunction with state-run testing centers have fewer delays.

FMCSA will leverage driver training data to gauge behind-the-wheel minimum, CVTA says
Recent hurdles aside, including calls from various groups for FMCSA to issue a supplemental rule to add a time-based behind-the-wheel requirement, the rule likely will remain as-is through its 2020 implementation date, says Don Lefeve, head of the Commercial Vehicle Training Association.
