I-75 SB bridge over I-24 near Chattanooga reduced to one lane after partial collapse
TDOT Chief Engineer Paul Degges said in a press conference that an early investigation of the collapse appears to point to an overdimensional load striking the bottom of the bridge and cutting some of the steel reinforcing strands in the beam that eventually collapsed.

Trucker likely started fatal chain-reaction crash, highway patrol reports
The Florida Highway Patrol report states a truck driver moved left out of the right lane and into the path of a 2007 Honda sedan “for an unknown reason,” and both vehicles traveled through the median guardrail and into the southbound lanes, sparking a chain-reaction crash.

A tractor-trailer and passenger car heading northbound on I-75 in Florida collided and went through the median guardrail into the southbound lanes. They then collided with multiple vehicles and caused a massive fire. See video coverage here.

Georgia eyes trucks-only lanes on I-75 near Atlanta
The proposed lanes would allow trucks and other commercial vehicles to travel in barrier-separated lanes from four-wheel traffic. The preliminary proposal has the lanes going northbound only from approximately the I-75/I-475 interchange near Macon to the McDonough area just south of Atlanta.

Report: Wrong-way driver intentionally hit tanker on I-75 in Ohio
A Dayton Police report on the accident indicates alcohol or drugs are suspected to have played a role in Brunsman’s actions. No drugs or alcohol use was suspected of Miller, and he was not tested, according to WHIO’s report.

I-85 lanes closed indefinitely in Atlanta, causing major traffic disruptions
All lanes of I-85 north and south are closed indefinitely from the downtown connector to Georgia Highway 400. While most trucks are required to use I-285 to go around the city, the closure of one of the main thoroughfares out of Atlanta will cause backups on other routes.

Two I-75 lanes NB/SB were finally reported open last week, April 13, following the rock slide in Campbell County, TN; I-40 reduced to one lane in both directions between MM 350 and 352 through late May.
