Pennsylvania testing new traffic restriction plan this winter
The draft plan is a five-tiered process that restricts travel by vehicles based on the severity of the weather and highway conditions. The first tier limits travel by certain kinds of vehicles, including some trucks, while the fifth is a complete travel ban for all vehicles except emergency response vehicles.

PennDOT looking to ease burden of highway truck restrictions this winter
Alexis Campbell, press secretary for PennDOT, recently said the department heard the frustration the trucking industry felt last year. She said the agency is going to “make sure that the way that we’re implementing the restrictions makes sense” and helps truckers plan ahead better.

More than 2,000 truckers cited for driving on restricted Pennsylvania roads this year
Roads were restricted for winter conditions on Jan. 19-20, Feb. 12 and March 3. A citation for failing to observe travel restrictions during a state of emergency carriers a $300 fine, plus court costs. If each of the drivers written citations is required to pay the fine, Pennsylvania will collect $619,500 in fines.
