His name is W. Joel Baker (pictured), of Clarksville, Tenn., where his Baker amp; Sons Trucking business, a one-truck fleet — and yes, he’s its sole driver and owner — is based. Likewise goes for the TruckBytes software he began developing early this decade. As you’ll find in the video interview below, conducted at the facility of one of Baker’s shipper customers in Mt. Juliet, he started the process of creating said software for selfish reasons after spending thousands on existing programs he felt just didn’t work for him. Along the way, he began to offer the basic version of TruckBytes to fellow independent owner-operators free of charge.br /div/divbr /divThe software, geared toward owner-operators and, in some functions, company drivers as well, is simple but effective, he says, making customer invoicing, IFTA accounting (in a paid version) and more that simple for owner-operators, saving time and money.
