College students seeking financial aid may apply for Truckload Carriers Association scholarships until 5 p.m., EDT, June 11, TCA announced. Students must be in good academic standing, be enrolled in an accredited four-year college for the 2010-2011 academic year and have an affiliation with a TCA member.
Nearly 20 scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $6,000 are expected to be awarded, TCA officials said. The awards are made in two segments each year.
For the first time this year, all applications must be completed online. No faxed or mailed entries will be accepted in an effort to save paper and other costs, said TCA spokeswoman Deborah Sparks.
For complete eligibility rules and to fill out the online application, visit www.truckload.org/Scholarships.
Affected tractors are equipped with an automated Eaton UltraShift Plus or Eaton Advantage Transmission with right hand stalk shifter. In the affected trucks, the display on the instrument panel can indicate “N” when the shifter is set into “D” or “R,” causing the truck not to move.
