A feature documentary film project about the international cult of fans that surrounds Steven Spielberg’s first success, Duel, which featured a mysterious needle-nose Peterbilt tank hauler in a starring role, is in the works from a crew based in Great Britain. The documentary, to be titled “The Devil on Wheels,” approved by Universal Studios, says the crew, had to date released its teaser trailer (above) and its first “Skype 60 Seconds Interview” update, about the Duel fan who decided to track down every single location in the film.

Until just a few days back: On March 12, a unique short documentary also premiered on the Kickstarter crowd-funding update page. Shot in Surrey in the South of England, it tells the story of Derek Drinkwaters, a Duel fan who out of love for for the move bought a Peterbilt truck on Ebay, drove it across America, took it to England and transformed it into the twin of the Duel truck. Nowadays, the Duel-themed tanker serves as a food business at classic car shows and other outdoor events. Watch it below.

With The Devil on Wheels, Director Enric Folch, a multi-award winning TV director in Spain, returns to the documentary format after Chining Me, an ironic view on pre-Beijing Olympics China. His most successful TV film, Tempus Fugit, will soon have a theatrical remake through an international coproduction.
