Three more large fleets have recently announced pay increases for drivers, joining a number of other trucking companies that have done the same in recent months.

K&B Transportation (No. 124 on the CCJ Top 250) is raising starting pay for its company drivers, effective May 7. The South Sioux City, Neb.-based fleet will boost pay for over-the-road drivers in its Midwest and national fleets by 5 cents to 50 cents per mile. Drivers already with the company are also getting a 5-cent increase, as follows:

  • 6 months to one year, from 46 cpm to 51 cpm
  • 1 year to 2 years, from 47 cpm to 52 cpm
  • 2 years to 5 years, from 48 cpm to 53 cpm
  • 5 years and more, from 49/50 pm to 54 cpm

The company says new hires are guaranteed a $1,250 weekly minimum with 2,500 guaranteed miles. Additionally, a bonus package rewards drivers for clean inspections, referrals and more.

Cargo Transporters (No. 174) is also increasing pay for all drivers, including new truck driving school graduates, effective April 1.

Drivers with one or more years of OTR experience will start at 46 cents-per-mile. New graduates will receive 25 cents-per-mile during their eight-week training, then move up to 44 cents-per-mile. At six months from their hire date, they will receive a one-cent increase.

American Central Transport (No. 249) is increasing both independent contractor and company driver pay, as well as implementing a new bonus incentive for company drivers, effective Feb. 28.

Owner-operators with ACT will receive a two cents-per-mile increase, while company drivers will receive an across-the-board pay increase. Company drivers can also earn up to $500 in a monthly bonus program. Drivers will earn $150 once they have driven 9,000 miles in a month, and the bonus amount will increase for every additional 1,000 miles, up to a monthly payment of $500 for 12,000 miles.
