Blue Ink Technology, provider of the no-monthly-fee BIT ELD system, announced  its new BIT TPMS, a tire-pressure monitoring system that is capable of reporting inflation status within the BIT ELD app. When users buy TPMS sensor packs, they will be able to get in-app tire pressure readings, the company says, adding that BIT TPMS is easy to install, with no hardwiring or downtime.

The wireless sensors screw onto the valve stem of each tire and send PSI, temperature, and battery level to the app. The system works on both Android and Apple devices using the free BIT ELD app and users are not required to have the BIT ELD to read tire pressures or perform DVIRs. Sensors costs around $20 apiece and a subscription is required for each at between $1 and $2 monthly, depending on service level. The wireless sensors screw onto the valve stem of each tire and send PSI, temperature, and battery level to the app. The system works on both Android and Apple devices using the free BIT ELD app and users are not required to have the BIT ELD to read tire pressures or perform DVIRs. Low tire pressures accounts for the large majority of early tire failures, including blowouts on the interstate that can cause downtime, trailer damage, road service expenses, potential OOS violations, and
accidents, BIT emphasizes. “We believe that by introducing this system to work inside the BIT ELD app, users will be much more aware of the overall health of their trucks and trailers because they are already using the app every day. This is just one of many new products and services we are rolling out to help carriers and drivers alike be much more aware of how their assets are performing and to increase the overall safety of the driver.”

Tire pressure readings in the system are automatically recorded each time the driver completes a driver vehicle inspection report (DVIR).  If any tire reading is above or below the tire pressure limits set by the carrier or driver, an issue will be added to the DVIR report. In addition, drivers will see any tire issues when they log into the BIT app and get alerts while on the road if pressure or temperature is outside set limits.
