Todd Spencer, OOIDAThe Board of Directors for the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association on Thursday voted unanimously to approve Todd Spencer as OOIDA’s new president. He’s been elected to a five-year term and was sworn in as president last week.
Spencer succeeds longtime president Jim Johnston, who died in January after a year-long battle with lung cancer. Spencer had served as the acting president and CEO since Johnston’s passing.
OOIDA said in a statement that Spencer “hopes to match the passionate dedication to activism and advocacy that his predecessor Jim Johnston possessed during his long leadership of OOIDA.”
Spencer had previously served as OOIDA’s executive vice president since 1992. A former owner-operator, Spencer was elected to OOIDA’s Board of Directors in 1978.
