U.S. 36 in Illinois to be closed

The Illinois Department of Transportation said construction work is scheduled to begin April 11 on U.S. 36 between State Route 49 and State Route130 that will close the road to traffic for five days.

Traffic will be detoured via State Route 49, State Route 133 and State Route 130.

Work will continue after the road is re-opened with an anticipated completion date in May.

Meanwhile, bridge deck repairs will affect traffic on Interstate 74 at mile marker 203 between exit 200 and exit 206, the department said. The anticipated completion date is in June.

In addition, eastbound lanes of I-72 over the southbound lanes of I-55 in Springfield will be closed for bridge deck repairs. One lane of traffic will be open at all times for the project that is scheduled to be completed in September.
