pilot signPilot Flying J’s multi-million dollar settlement with 5,500 trucking companies was approved in court Monday, and the company is on the hook to pay millions to customers in owed fuel rebates, interest on that money owed and costs by class members incurred in the litigation and auditing processes.

However, Overdrive reported the truck stop chain would be paying $72 million in the settlement — numbers pulled from court documents filed Friday, Nov. 22.

More recent documents filed with the U.S. District Court in Arkansas, however, reveal that number to be about $12 million more than originally reported.

In the settlement approved this week, Pilot will pay $84.9 million. Here’s a breakdown of that sum:

Principle (money owed in fuel rebates): $56.5 million

Interest: $9.75 million

Audit costs: $4.5 million

Attorney’s fees: $14 million (if approved by the court)

Remainder: Attorney’s expenses, incentive awards, fees for notice services, fees for administration services
