The 39th annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree drew a crowd of nearly 43,000 people to Iowa 80 Truckstop last weekend.The 39th annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree drew a crowd of nearly 43,000 people to Iowa 80 Truckstop last weekend.

The 39th annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree drew a crowd of nearly 43,000 truck drivers, families and local residents this past weekend at the Iowa 80 Truckstop.

Visitors from 22 states and one Canadian province showed their trucks in the event held June 12-14. There were 91 contestants in the Super Truck Beauty Contest, an antique truck display with more than 170 trucks, Trucker Olympics, carnival games and free concerts throughout the show.

Terry Aslinger and his 1996 Peterbilt 379, nicknamed “Old Glory,” picked up the award for Best Overall Theme in the show, with John Jaikes and his 1999 Kenworth W900L earning the Trucker’s Choice award.

There were winners in 28 other categories at the show, including Matt Schleuger’s 1993 Kenworth K100E winning in the Working Truck Cabover category; Jake Robak’s 2006 Peterbilt 379 car hauler winning in the Working Truck Specialty category; Lynn Ragels’ 1995 Peterbilt 379 winning in the Show Class; and more.
