Drivers planning to travel through Phoenix or Las Vegas this weekend should expect delays and consider detours as construction will have portions of major thoroughfares in each city closed.
In Phoenix, I-10 Westbound will be closed between 51st and 67th avenues from 10 p.m. Friday, May 18, through 5 a.m. Sunday, May 20. The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers consider taking Loop 101 west of I-17 as a detour.
Following the closure, the section of I-10 will be narrowed to one lane with intermittent closures nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, May 20 through Thursday, May 24.
Additionally, in Las Vegas, U.S. Highway 95 at I-15 will be closed from midnight Friday, May 18, through 4 a.m. on Monday, May 21. Nevada DOT says I-15 and the “Spaghetti Bowl” ramps will stay open throughout the closure, however.
