WAA began posting “Trucking Tributes” on its website in February, which highlight a truck driver or a group of drivers that have donated their time to help deliver wreaths.
So far, two “Trucking Tributes” have been posted. The first honors 27-year trucking veteran Steven Meyer, who drives for Arpin Van Lines out of Rhode Island, and has been involved with Wreaths Across America for four years. The second recognizes Don Queeney, owner and vice president of Hampton Roads Moving and Storage in Suffolk, Va., who has also been involved in WAA for four years.
Last year, more than 150 trucking companies helped transport more than 1.2 million wreaths across the nation as part of Wreaths Across America Day. The largest convoy of trucks for the event delivers more than 200,000 wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery.
