When Michael Barry asked his boss about sprucing up a company truck, P&S Enterprises owner Mitch Twenter offered him a deal he couldn’t refuse: matching funds for all improvements on the 2005 Peterbilt 379. “He said, ‘It’s got to be 50-50 – that way I know you’ve got your heart into it,'” Barry says. “I picked it up brand new, and I’ve done all the work bumper to bumper.”
Twenter often offers a choice of a new truck to loyal drivers who appear willing to stay. “I said, ‘Let’s go hog wild,'” Barry says. He’s put in hardwood floors, lowered the visor, added a louvered grille and shaved the turn signals off the headlights and put them on the fenders. “Everything inside is stainless, leather and wood,” Barry says.
After a first at last year’s Mid-America Trucking Show and a tie for first at Walcott, the truck’s first two shows, it went hog wild at the 2006 Pride & Polish at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas. It took three Firsts: Interior Excluding Sleeper, Conventional Bobtail 2005-Newer and Participants’ Choice.
