Angie Banning awarded April 2011 Teacher of the Month

| June 09, 2011

Angie Banning, a teacher at Longmont Estates Elementary in Longmont, Colo., was named Trucker Buddy International’s April 2011 Teacher of the Month. Banning and Steen Gronlund, a driver for Mile High Foods, have volunteered in the trucking education outreach for more than 10 years.

Gronlund says he has enjoyed being a Trucker Buddy for Banning’s classes. Years ago, Gronlund took for fourth-grade classes, about 100 students, to the National Western Stock Show in Denver. At the end of the school year, he brings his truck to show Banning’s class.

In 2006, Gronlund, a native of Denmark, became a citizen of the United States and Banning had each student write a poem about becoming a citizen. The class also made a quilt for Steen out of squares they made.
