Connecticut passes snow-removal bill

Truck drivers operating in Connecticut could face $75 fines for not removing snow and ice from their vehicles — and fines up to $1,250 if ice or snow flies off and causes damage or injury, under a measure passed this week by state lawmakers.

Gov. Jodi Rell is expected to sign the bill, which would not take effect until December 2013.

The Motor Transport Association of Connecticut opposed the bill, contending truck drivers have few options for removing snow and ice from their vehicles.
