Penske wins Kroger contract

Penske Logistics has won the contract to operate and manage Kroger’s 600,000-square-foot refrigerated food distribution facility located in West Shelbyville, Indiana. Penske officially began operating the facility July 21 and has hired the 816 existing workers at the facility, including those represented by Teamsters Local 135, the company said.

It's taken less than a decade for small fleet owner Derrick Wolfe to grow his New York-based food grade tanker-haul business from one truck to 21 company drivers, seven owner-operators and 10 non-driving employees.
