Due to Super Bowl, Minnesota suspends oversize/overweight loads this weekend

Updated Feb 1, 2018

If you have an oversized or overweight load headed to or through Minnesota yet this week, do it before Saturday afternoon or you’ll have to wait until Monday morning. You can blame it on some big football game being played Sunday.

he Minnesota Department of Transportation is halting all OSOW loads on all state highways from 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 until Monday, Feb. 5 because of the Super Bowl being played at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis Sunday.

A department spokesperson said the restriction is similar to the one enforced for the opening of fishing season in early May.

Sue Roe said, “Due to the expected high volume of traffic, we are not allowing OSOW loads (so it doesn’t create additional congestion or safety concerns).
