If you’ve been following the blog, you know that there’s a U.S. Class 8 race series set to hit the road this year in the ChampTruck World Series. You also probably know there’s a driver, “88 Mike” Morgan, who’s bringing the old driver-owner spirit to his built-from-ground-up Powershift Performance race team, sponsored by Winrock Truck Parts and Equipment but also in search of more sponsorship dollars to keep it going well beyond race 1 in New Jersey come April.

Morgan’s a Mack of Nashville diesel tech by day, as I’ve written about before, who I got another chance to check in with this past weekend for an update on progress on his Mack racing unit. In the podcast here, he talks further vehicle specifications, including some elements you can see in the pictures (from our new-ish Instagram feed) below the podcast, as well as the truck’s special grille — where it came from, and what it means to him and all those who’ve got a part in the truck going forward.

Among recent additions to the unit: lightweight but durable aluminum wheels.

Likewise added recently: This second radiator for high-temp racing. It's mounted on the frame rail.

The top left signature, Mikey Morgan, is that of Morgan' young son, a "bulldog fan" through and through…
