Convoy for a Cure, across North America

| September 07, 2009

The Convoy for a Cure organization jumpstarted last year on the efforts of a Quebecker long-haul driver looking to raise money and awareness, respectively, for breast-cancer research and the challenges of its sufferers. The first, all-female-driver convoy subsequently took place in Ontario, Canada, and inspired others in both Canada and the U.S. Upcoming this October are three more Convoy for a Cure events in Texas, Alberta (Canada) and New Brunswick (Canada).

The last of these (see poster, pictured) was reported on by the New Brunswick Times amp; Transcript newspaper on Monday. Convoy organizer Roxanne Smith, a retired schoolteacher and cancer survivor who is married to a long-haul truck driver, reports that, despite some outdated info on the Convoy website, the New Brunswick convoy will also include men interested in participating.
Forms for participating or sponsoring the event are available at the site. If you’re interested, find it here. Participating truckers, the Times amp; Transcript reported, will meet “at the Circle K Irving Big Stop in Salisbury [New Brunswick] at 8 a.m. Oct. 17 for a complementary breakfast and head out on the road at 10 a.m.” with police escort.
