Cummins natural gas engine available in Kenworth tractors

Kenworth Truck Co., based in Kirkland, Wash., is offering is the Cummins Westport ISL G natural gas engine for the Kenworth T800 short hood and W900S models. Available for order, the natural gas models are for vocational, municipal, and pickup and delivery applications.
The ISL G engine operates on either compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG). Rated at 320-hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque, the ISL G is compliant with 2010 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency emissions requirements, with a maintenance-free, three-way catalyst and does not require the use of selective catalytic reduction or a diesel particulate filter. Compressed and liquefied natural gases and fuel tanks can be configured to suit customer applications and range requirements.
Kenworth T800 short hood and W900S natural gas trucks, which use Allison transmissions, may qualify for a U.S. federal tax credit of up to $32,000 and for state and federal grant funding.
