Equipment news from ATA: Kenworth dealer certification, 40-inch sleeper for T880, new aero kits

The American Trucking Associations’ annual Management Conference and Exhibition took place this week in Philadelphia, and from it have come several trucking equipment news announcements.

Kenworth introduces new premium dealer certification program

Kenworth announced its new Kenworth PremierCare Gold Certified program for Kenworth dealerships in North America offering superior levels of service. Dealers must meet a number of criteria to gain the new certification, including a PremierCare ExpressLane with technicians to support quick diagnosis and estimated repair time and cost within two hours.

Kenworth announces 40-inch sleeper config for T880

Kenworth announced its T880 will be available in a 40-inch sleeper configuration beginning in March 2016 and is designed for straight truck and tractor vocational applications where drivers need a small sleeper. It features a 24-inch liftable bunk and 22.5 cubic feet of storage space to handle gear for occasional stays in the sleeper, plus storage shelves and a cell phone cubby.

FlowBelow introduces aero kits for flatbeds and tankers

FlowBelow

FlowBelow announced a new modified version of its Tractor AeroKit for use in flatbed and tanker fleet operations, and says the new system offers fuel savings of 3 percent on tanker and flatbed tractors, compared to 2.23 percent in dry van and refrigerated van applications.

DTNA announces new features for Detroit Connect

DTNA announced new features for Detroit Connect, the company’s connected vehicle system, and the Virtual Technician remote diagnostic system, to further improve integration and communications. A new portal with Detroit Connect will allow users to access more detailed information about specific fault events communicated by Virtual Technician.

SmartTruck announces new top fairing for tractor-trailer gap

SmartTruck, an aerodynamic-efficiency solutions provider, introduced its LeadEdge Top Fairing, a new aerodynamic trailer fairing designed to manipulate and manage the disruptive airflow created in the gap between tractor and trailer, or between two tandem trailers.
