Fikes helps with Haiti restoration

Evans Delivery company driver Carroll Connor has won a 2010 Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide in the fleet’s safest driver drawing. Connor has had no safety violations in his 16 years’ driving, the Schuylkill Haven, Pa.-based carrier said. . . . The Ohio Trucking Association’s May Drivers of the Month are John Baker, Terry Berger, Edward Butler, Dennis Day, Brent Hammons, Roy Libengood, Keith Long, Larry Rosengarten, Douglas Rossman, Rick Stumbo, Daniel Wagner and William Williams. . . . Ruan Transport driver Doug Quick has been selected as the fleet’s 2009 Driver of the Year from a pool of more than 4,100 drivers. The 28-year driver has been with the Des Moines, Iowa, carrier for 14 years and operates out of its terminal in Tampa, Fla. . . .Schneider National has been named Kimberly-Clark’s 2009 Carrier of the Year for the second consecutive year.

Birmingham, Ala.-based flatbed carrier CRST-Malone is giving a bonus to owner-operators who lease to the fleet and reimbursing them up to $400 in fuel for attending the orientation in their trucks. . . . Koch Cos. has increased the base mileage rate for company drivers with hazmat endorsement by 2 cents, 1 cent for drivers without it, and compensation for contractors with hazmat endorsements from 91 to 93 cents per mile. n
