General tires renamed Grabber

General Truck Tire product lines are being renamed Grabber and will expand in the next 12 months, Continental Tires the America announced.

General tires for the on/off road segment were renamed Grabber OA, referring to off-road and all-position, and launched July 1. The Grabber OA, available in sizes 11R22.5 and 11R24.5, was moved from the General MS520 steer and all-position truck tire for construction and other off-road applications. The tire still sports 23/32nds of tread depth, a sidewall and groove technologies.

While General highway and regional tires will be given either General H or General R nomenclature, the on/off road portfolio will have a complete name change to the Grabber line, said Continental Tire the Americas brand manager Libor Heger.

Within the next year, new General brand products will be launched from plants in Illinois, Brazil and Ecuador. The Fort Mill, S.C.-based General Truck Tire is a CTA brand.
