For those who need it, Dupsky says he’s there to help.

“For the new guys, if they’ve got questions, I’m always willing to help them out. I don’t sit there and tell them every move to make, but I’ll help.”

Q & A

TN: Do you have any advice for younger drivers?

Dupsky: Don’t listen to all the bad stuff out here. If in doubt, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Be patient. Patience has a lot to do with it. Don’t ever be in a hurry. Always watch out for the other people.

TN: What’s the worst load you’ve ever had to carry?

Dupsky: Single standup coils, the skinny ones, 6 to 10 inches wide and about 6-feet tall. The way we had to load them and tie them down, we had to spread them out. If they broke loose, they’d roll to the cab or the back of the trailer.

Reuben Dupsky Jr. is a finalist in the 2012 Company Driver of the Year contest produced by Truckers News and the Truckload Carriers Association. The winner will be announced at TCA’s annual convention March 3-6, 2013, in Las Vegas.
