Another hike in diesel’s price

For the fifth consecutive week, the national average retail price of a gallon of diesel rose this week. The price gained 2.2 cents to $2.946, the highest level since November 2008, according to the Department of Energy.

Diesel’s price has increased 19.8 cents the past five weeks.

All regions reported higher prices, ranging from less than a penny in California and on the Gulf Coast to 3.1 cents in the Rocky Mountain area. The Gulf Coast is the cheapest at $2.904, while the Central Atlantic is the most expensive at $3.079.
