I-15 in Idaho to close July 22-25 for air show

Interstate 15 in Idaho Falls will close intermittently for up to 6 hours for the Extreme Blue Thunder Air Show July 22-25, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

I-15 will close between Idaho Falls and Roberts (milepost 119 and 134) for rehearsals and performances of the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels precision flying team.

Traffic will be detoured through Rigby on U.S. 20 and Idaho 48.

Closures will be on Thursday, July 22, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 23-25, from 2-5 p.m. each daily.

The U.S. Navy requires the area around a performance of its flight squadron (six Boeing F/A-18 Hornet military jets and a Lockheed-Martin C-130, “Fat Albert,” turboprop plane) be cleared of people and traffic for safety purposes.
