Genre: Science fiction

Plot: Mainly talks about the United States being invaded. The story is somewhat gruesome at times. It shows how real friends help each other in times of need. The book discusses how two friends fought against the invaders and the Army and won.

Main Characters: Four men who grew up together. They met a young man who was retarded and became his friend. The five friends had some sort of ESP. The sixth main character was Mr. Gray.

What’s best (or not)? The book keeps you in suspense. You have to keep listening to find out what happened. The book was kind of drawn out, but it was still very good. I didn’t like three of the main characters dying.

Would you recommend? Yes. It is good listening. It does keep you in suspense and you will find you can’t put it down.

Narrator’s style: The narrator was good. He kept it going as if you were listening to several people.

How would you rate the book? A+

An Accidental Woman
Barbara Delinsky

Heather Malone has made her home in Lake Henry for the last fourteen years. Known for her kind, gentle nature, she lives with Micah Smith, a widower, and his two young daughters. When the FBI takes her into custody, purportedly for murder, the local reaction is stunned disbelief. Yet, those closest to her realize that they have learned little about her earlier life.

Poppy Blake is confined to a wheelchair, the result of a snowmobile accident nearly a dozen years prior that left her a paraplegic and killed her male companion. Her guilt over past mistakes prevents her from pursuing a future.

Writer Griffin Hughes originally traveled to Lake Henry to investigate a national news story involving Lily Blake, Poppy’s older sister. It is his chance comment to his brother – an FBI agent – that leads the law to Heather. To redeem himself, Griffin is compelled to solve the mystery of Heather’s past.

Absolute Rage
Robert K. Tanenbaum

While New York City sizzles beneath a blanket of early summer humidity, the Karp family is happily taking refuge in their renovated farmhouse on Long Island’s north shore. Karp’s battles against the city’s corrupt politicians are never-ending. His wife, Marlene, is training guard dogs on their picturesque acreage and Lucy is enjoying her summer break from Boston College and playing the part of the dutiful daughter assisting with the running of the business and tending to her rambunctious twin brothers.

The tide quickly changes when Marlene befriends her beachside neighbor, Rose Wickham-Heeney, a northeastern aristocrat turned wife of West Virginia coal mine union leader Ralph “Red” Heeney. After fun-filled weeks of family barbecues and lazy afternoons with the Heeneys, the Karps discover that Rose, Red and their daughter Lizzie have been brutally murdered back home in McCullensburg. Irresistible force meets immovable object when the West Virginia governor appoints Karp as special prosecutor to bring justice to the corrupt town, its union chieftain and his band of merry thugs. Marlene joins Karp as he searches for the killers and works to save his own family from an evil that runs deep as the mines that fuel it.
