I learned today about Sparks Marina Park in Sparks, Nev. Learned by walking around it.
Diane and I woke up this morning in a retail area in Reno, in service and waiting for freight. Needing to do some minor maintenance work on the truck, we drove to the TA truck stop in nearby Sparks (sometimes called the Reno TA), where I could work in the parking lot.
Time passed and the freight remained quiet. Nevada is in the Pacific Time Zone. As agent offices closed in the East and then the Midwest, the risk of being caught away from the truck when a load offer came in diminished. Diane and I decided to take a walk.
I remembered that an expediter friend once told us about walking trails near this TA and called him for the details. He told us to take the sidewalk east from the truck stop until it runs into a park. There is a lake there and a concrete sidewalk that goes around it. On the other side of the lake is a shopping mall. We walked around the lake and explored the retail area. It was a pleasant way to spend the afternoon.
