SHINIEST PEARL

Big Daddy is a fitting nickname for Kirk McKinney of Phoenix, who spends so much time caring for his pearl-colored 2000 FL60 Freightliner that it is almost like his own child. McKinney hand-cut and formed chrome pieces to fit the front of the fifth wheel; he also wrapped the back frame in chrome. The truck has also been adorned with chrome wheels, chrome weights on the mud flaps and chrome nut covers. McKinney spends his Saturdays polishing his rig so it can remain what his wife, Connie, calls “the shiniest little work truck in Arizona.”

HOME SWEET HOME

When Jim Kelby of Griffith, Ind., runs his loads down the interstate, home is never far behind. Kelby uses this unique setup to move modular homes and offices. The forklift on the back is used to spot the homes and offices in tight spaces the truck can’t get to. The forklift also loads and unloads itself without the use of ramps and can be removed in 30 seconds, turning the tractor into a regular fifth-wheel truck. The truck is a 2000 Kenworth T800 with a Cummins NT14 engine.
