Channellock’s air brake tool
AIR BRAKE TOOL
Channellock No. 444 is a 12-inch tongue-and-groove plier designed for quick and accurate checks of the clearance between the drum and brake shoe on S-cam brake systems using manual or automatic slack adjusters. Seven channel adjustments make it more versatile than other options. It is forged from high-carbon steel and offers the PermaLock fastener to ensure smooth and clean adjustment.
ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM
The Mack Road Stability Advantage system – a first-of-its-kind stability control system designed to reduce Class 8 truck rollovers – was developed by Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems and is now available on the Mack Granite. The mixer truck market is among the first targeted by Mack because these trucks have high centers of gravity and dynamic loads. The stability system uses existing ABS speed sensors, along with steering, yaw and lateral acceleration inputs to deactivate the throttle and selectively apply brakes in sharp curves, sudden lane changes or during obstacle avoidance maneuvers.
FIFTH WHEEL CYLINDERS
Velvac’s replacement fifth-wheel cylinders feature a corrosion-resistant, gold-anodized tube and stainless steel shaft. The front and rear covers are made of cast aluminum for precision fit and durability, while a bushing and wiper seal in the front cover prevents contamination.
Fleetguard now offers the first user-friendly oil/fuel filter, made of extreme temperature-resistant plastic that also resists dents. The cylinder-shaped filter does not topple during use, as dome-based filters are prone to do. The housing offers either a 3- or a 3.75-inch diameter and can fit engines of 8 to 10 liters.
ONLINE SERVICE AND REPAIR DATABASE
Mitchell 1’s online database, Tractor-Trailer.net, contains service and repair information for heavy-duty tractors, dry vans and reefers. It includes sub-circuit color wiring diagrams for more than 1,100 Class 7 and 8 tractors, 1,800 trailers, and 200 reefers.

ELECTRONIC IDLE TIMER/DELAY
Idle-Tech’s one-touch electronic idle timer/delay is preset to the engine maker’s recommended idle downtime. A turbocharger spins between 50,000 rpm and 90,000 rpm, operated by exhaust gases that can reach 1,300 degrees. A few minutes of idling cools the turbo and allows it to slow before shutdown. The remote timer module can be hidden.
The Battery Brain cuts off power to anything draining the battery when the charge drops below a certain level, ensuring enough charge remains to start the engine. Installation takes a few minutes and uses the vehicle’s existing battery cables. The Battery Brain III model comes with a remote control device to restart the battery without having to lift the hood of the vehicle.
