New Postal Vault mailboxes offer locking boxes that prevent mail theft and potential identity theft. The boxes, made of 18-gauge steel, use a trap door and have a locking retrieval system. They can hold weeks of mail. The boxes are available in some Lowe’s stores and can be ordered from the manufacturer.
NEW TANDEM AXLES
Dana Corp.’s new Dana Spicer D190 series of single-reduction tandem drive axles targets vocational applications such as construction, logging, refuse, mining and oil field operations. The family of axles has gross axle weight ratings from 52,000 pounds (D52-190 model) to 60,000 pounds (D60-190). The axles feature broad ratio coverage – 3.42 through 7.17.
AUTOMATIC BATTERY FILL
Flow-Rite’s Qwik-Fill On-board Battery Watering System replaces the standard wet-cell battery caps with a pair of three-cell caps designed to allow the cells to be filled evenly with ease. Installation requires only a pocketknife or pair of scissors. The 8-ft. filler tube can be cut and located where convenient.
APU HAS AUTO FEATURES
Auxiliary Power Dynamics’ Willis Auxiliary Power Unit starts up when the truck’s parking brake is set, automatically providing power to all systems powered by the main engine. It automatically shuts down when the engine is started. The APU contains an alternator, an A/C compressor and a heat exchanger and pump for heating and circulating coolant.

PAINTABLE POLY FENDERS
Minimizer’s M9900 TPO poly fenders can now be painted. The fenders are made of high-density polyethylene, which resists damage due to chemicals, heat, cold and bumps.
OIL DRIP CONTROL
Fleetguard’s Enviroguard controls oil drip and filters crankcase aerosols out of engine blowby. It works in diesel engine applications from 60 hp to 640 hp. The system captures, separates and coalesces oil particulates from crankcase emissions and returns the oil to the crankcase with filtered gases vented to the atmosphere.
Tundra’s new small, lightweight auxiliary air conditioning systems contain all components on a single compact chassis that can be placed under a bunk or in a closet or cabinet. Air can be ducted to one or more grills discharging into the cab or sleeper. The closed loop of refrigerant requires no additional charging at installation. The systems are offered in 7,000, 10,000 and 14,000 BTU capacities. The 10,000 and 14,000 BTU units have a built-in 2.0 or 2.5 KW heating strip.
NEW AXLE ASSEMBLIES
Ridewell’s new axle assemblies can be used with the RUL-245 Bantamweight Auxiliary Lift Axle Suspension Series for vocational truck and trailer applications. The rating of the base axle is limited to 12,000 pounds (bearing capacity). Ridewell’s Bantamweight RUL-245 Series offers lightweight, compact units designed for limited-space chassis mountings.
COLD WEATHER AIR COIL
Phillips Industries’ new Polar Air cold weather coiled air line features heavy-duty jacketing that allows it to remain flexible to minus 85 degrees and offers corrosion and abrasion resistance with superior recoil memory, the company says. The Polar Air is equipped with an extended brass handle, which adds increased leverage for easier connection to the glad hand.
MICRO INVERTER LINE
Xantrex Technology’s new XPower Micro Inverters connect to a 12-volt DC power system and provide 175, 200, 400 and 800 watts of AC power. All models provide automatic shutdown protection against overload, over-temperature and low or high battery charge conditions. They have a one-year warranty.
FUEL TAX SOFTWARE
ALK Technologies’ new PC*MILER|FuelTax 9.0 software automates fuel and mileage tax tracking, calculation and reporting. Among the features are an archival tool and the ability to import trip and equipment information from mobile communications and transportation management systems as well as directly from fuel management services.
