AVERITT DONATES $200,000 TO ST. JUDE
Averitt Express employees donated $200,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during the 10th annual St. Jude Cancer Survivors Conference this past fall.

Hundreds of survivors attended the event, including Averitt employee and former St. Jude patient Ginger Nichols.

Averitt Cares, the company’s charitable program, has donated more than $1.5 million to St. Jude during the past 20 years, endowing the hospital’s Leukemia and Lymphoma Clinic.


BARR-NUNN RAISES OWNER-OPERATOR PAY
Barr-Nunn Transportation’s $600 Appreciation Bonus for owner-operators, which went into effect this month, will be paid every 60,000 miles.

The company will continue its Fuel Protection Guarantee Program at $1.24 per gallon this year.


PENSKE OPENS NEW JERSEY TERMINAL
Penske Truck Leasing recently opened a new 15,500-square-foot terminal in Bridgeport, N.J., that can serve 650 vehicles on 11 acres.

The $5.2 million facility offers four service bays, a truck washing bay and a two-lane fuel island.


DANNY HERMAN WINS SAFETY AWARDS
Danny Herman Trucking won the first-place Fleet Safety Award in the Under 3 Million Mile Truckload Category from the Tennessee Trucking Association. The company also was awarded the Grand Champion Award for all categories.


MARTEN RECOGNIZES DRIVERS OF THE MONTH
Marten Transport recently announced its Drivers of the Month for September: Michael Baker, John Borrett, Robert Clemes, Anthony Collins, Serafin Costello, William Cunningham, Brian Fell, Larry Fowler, Thenal Gregory, Richard Henry, Johnny Hill, Billy Hooper, Hanley Johnson, Renaldo Joseph, Nathan Kraehenbuehl, Joe McCusker, Terrell McClennan III, Russell Miner, Daniel Mosij, Michael Norton, Arlie Pedigo, Michael Piner, Michael Porter, Randall Prescott, Allen Ray, Noell Reece, Terry Shadden, Stuart Shaver, Anthony Smith, Ken Thede, Robert Viele, Larry Woods and the team of Janus Fynaut and Alexis Henderson.

TRANSPORT AMERICA honored August Drivers of the Month: George Carney, Edward Eason, Steven Levine, William Piktel, David Stanley and Henry Woods.

DECKER TRUCK LINE honored Drivers of the Month Keith Andrews, flatbed, and Bryan Thenhaus, reefer/van, September; and Mark Palm, reefer/van, and Daniel Welsh, flatbed, October.

WARREN TRANSPORT honored Drivers of the Month Monica Balderas, September, and driving team Harold and Rose Lowe, October.

DART TRANSIT named its August Contractors of the Month: John Curtis, Dallas operating
center; and Gil Berrios, Eagan, Minn., operating center.

AVERITT EXPRESS inducted into its Over 20 Team drivers who have worked for the company for 20 or more years: Larry Bobo, Keith Grindstaff, Bill Hudson and Everitt Wiler.

CONTRACT FREIGHTERS INC. honored October Drivers of the Month Philip Sefiane, contractor driver; William and Victoria Bumgardner, contractor team; Francis Untiedt, company driver; and Larry Howell and Daia Elkins, company team.

KLLM TRANSPORT SERVICES won the Great West Risk Management Platinum Award for Safety and Operational Excellence.

MILAN EXPRESS was named Highway Watch Trainer of the Year for 2006.
