San Pellegrino Aranciata

When craving the fizz of an orange soda, skip the sugar-heavy Sunkist and go for a more natural approach: San Pellegrino Aranciata. It’s carbonated water, sugar and orange juice.

Good choice: San Pellegrino Aranciata orange soda

Bad choice: Sunkist

Calories and fat: A bottle of San Pellegrino Aranciata has 80 calories with no fat, compared with 190 calories and no fat in a can of Sunkist.

Sugar and carbohydrates: Sunkist is stuffed with sugar: 50 grams in a 12-oz. can. That’s equivalent to three tablespoons of sugar per serving. Sunkist has 52 grams of carbohydrates compared with San Pellegrino’s 19 grams of sugar and 19 grams of carbs.

Downsides to San Pellegrino are that it may be hard to find and it’s caffeine free, compared with Sunkist’s 41 milligrams. So, if you’re in it for the caffeine, stick to coffee for a healthier energy boost.

    I am drinking one now, and these stats are wrong. One can has 140 cals, 34 carbs, and 32g sugar. Just sayin.

    they might be for a bottle, but we should be comparing like sizes and since the sunkist was a 12 oz can, your numbers posted are more relevant

    Yep I have for ages been drinking what I called fifty fifty, pellegrino and juice and when I saw these cans I was delighted but they are so sweet. Just as sweet tasting as normal fizz not at all like a fifty fifty
