The first-ever Meritor ChampTruck World Series race takes place this weekend at the New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, N.J., where 10 Class 8 truck racers will square off in 100-mph road course action in four heats and one main event.

Friday was an all-day practice day, says ChampTruck director John Condren. See the photos below from the practice day, where several of the teams competing in the series had their first chance at getting their equipment on a track.

The Team Optima Batteries truck, the No. 11 truck driven by veteran truck racer and stunt driver Mike Ryan, had the fastest lap of the day.

One more practice session will be held today, followed by qualifying and two heat races. Sunday will feature two more heats and the so-called Podium Race, Condren says, which is the weekend’s main event.

The races are open to the public, and entry costs just $20 per person. Children under 15 get in free.
