Inadvertently making the case for proper truck maintenance this week was Miami, Fla.-based trucker Luiz Ramirez, who suffered his first-ever cargo theft. While he splashed around in the shower in the wee hours at a truck stop in Ft. Myers, Fla., according to a report filed by Rachel Myers of the Ft. Myers News-Press, somebody was getting drunk on his cargo: a reported $100,000 worth of wine. “>I don’t know if [the thieves] wanted to take it for the truck itself or for the wine inside,” Ramirez told Myers. One big standout among the details within the report: Myers writes, “At the time, Ramirez said the locks on his rig weren’t working.”
